The Champagne Reviewer
GauthierFounded in 1858 by Charles-Alexandre Gauthier, exported between 1858 and 1950, more than 2 million bottles.
The House had the great honour of being appointed sole supplier to the Royal Court of Sweden.
With an eye turned resolutely to the overseas markets, Gauthier was one of the first Champagne brands to establish agencies in London, New-York, Amsterdam,
Brussels and Munich advertising everywhere like London Buses.
In 1958 this House was acquired by Gaston Burtin who updated the cellars and equipement to the highest
standards of the day, combining quality of wine with efficiency of production.
In so doing he laid the foundation of the present company Marne Champagne, with annual sales of more than 14 million bottles.
Today, Champagne Gauthier is distinct with its tricolour rings. Address: 66, rue de Courlancy, BP 41, 51573 Reims Cedex 2 Owned By: Lanson
